If you follow me on Facebook (Diary of a Beautiful Disaster), you may have seen my post about the phenomenal musicians Sons of Serendip and their rendition of “I Lived.” If you haven’t seen it, watch it here. I haven’t been able to get their version of this song out of my head for weeks. It suddenly occurred to me that I want to say “I lived” too.
I don’t know about you, but I’m a creature of habit. I need my habits to survive. I always have. My body craves it’s 5am workouts and evening relaxation. I spend Sunday’s doing all the things I’ve neglected throughout the week: cleaning, grocery shopping, cooking. I’m quite boring, but these habits force me to be a recluse. How am I ever going to grow as a person if I stay within my comfort zone? I’m not.
Today I decided to take the advice of Son’s of Serendip and live to the best of my abilities. I will try to step out my comfort zone as often as possible without sacrificing my personal goals (A.K.A. I’m in marathon training so don’t ask me to stay out late every night!). Hopefully I’ll be able to provide you with some entertaining stories along the way. Of course, I may not be able to do anything extravagant every week, but the goal is to do the uncomfortable whenever possible.
So…what should I do? How do you “live?”
